Fancy a piece of pie?
Vlaai is a cake that is mainly associated with Belgian and Dutch Limburg. The cake is considered typical Limburgish. Fruit pie consists of a bottom of dough (usually with a diameter of 27 to 30 centimeters), which is flat, with raised edges. The flan is then usually filled with food such as gooseberries, cherries, plums, apple, apricot lentils or rice. Originally no whipped cream is used, even though it is common nowadays. Flans are substantially different from cake because the bottom is made from a different type of dough. Custard pastry is a lot lighter and resembles bread dough.
At Baking & Cooking you will find pans with a diameter between 140 and 320 mm. These pans are made of alusteel, this is steel with an aluminum layer for better heat conduction and to prevent rust. The forms are not coated as standard, but can be made on request with a special silicone coating that is suitable against fruit acids. Contact one of our employees for this without obligation.
